Cubs run Soup Kitchen for the Haven Night Shelter in Cape Town, South Africa
On 1 June 2019, 1st Muizenberg Cub Pack made 40 litres of soup for The Haven Night shelter in Kalk bay. We spent most of the day chopping vegetables, stirring soup, washing up, catching up on Interest badge work and playing games. Once the soup was finished, we had to cool it down before we could package it for taking to The Haven. The Cubs then washed up the pots and moved the cooler soup into 5L ice cream containers which we delivered to Kalk bay. We organised enormous vegetable boxes at a very good price, there was so much that we could donate almost 2 boxes of extra vegetables, as well as 8 loaves of buttered bread and 3 black bags of 2nd hand clothing. The Cubs also learnt how to prepare the various types of vegetables and dealt with the sharp knives very well.
