Fiji police have erected roadblocks and checkpoints in the country's second largest city, Lautoka, as the government tackles the COVID-19 outbreak. Since Thursday's – 19th March, 2020, announcement of Fiji's first coronavirus case - Lautoka, where the patient resides, has been in lockdown till further notice.

People could only leave the city for essential travel. Police road-blocks are placed at the extreme ends of Lautoka.

Since there was a high rate of panic evident in Lautoka's central business district and also in the confined blocked areas of Lautoka, the Scout Leaders in consultation with Ministry of Education, Health and the City Council, decided to spread COVID-19 awareness to the 145,000 citizens of Lautoka.

Likewise, about 36 of Scout leaders and non-scouts with 23 Government Officials went around from Monday 23rd March, 2020 till Friday 27th March, 2020 to about 26 different locations of Lautoka covering about 94 stations in spreading the awareness on not to panic and the precautionary measures issued by WHO. There are about 145,000 population in Lautoka and we were able to cover almost all through the representatives, village elders, area reps and advisory counsellors of these 26 areas.
