COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT AT AMKACHI
The interest of the scouts and guides to volunteer and poverty of the villages here had stirred up my motivation to start up with this project.
Our project was firstly implemented at Amkachi. Don Bosco School. which then was later on introduced to the villagers.
We started with making a development committee and involved all the head of the institutions and benefactors from the city and rural areas. We also took support from President awardee scouts and guides, governor awardee scouts and guides, and senior scouts, and headman of the village and Students Union Leader.
More than 500 families, drop out children and their parents benefited from this project. The impact was like there were unemployed people who now started working as daily wagers into hobby centres. also. illiterate parents started coming to school for evening classes, and they started earning daily wages through helping in the Don Bosco hobby centres.
We learnt that this project should have started much earlier for the benefit of the villagers. Because of these projects, parents and guardians started sending their children to regular classes and for the evening schools. Simultaneously, they got opportunity to work in the Don Bosco Institutions at different trades.
