CLIMATE ACTION FOR PEACE : HIKING TO THE TAMPALAGAS HILL, SIPITANG, SABAH

On September 22, 2019 a total of 27 Sipitang Scouts leaders, Rovers and Scouts members gathered at the foothill of Tampalagas for the hiking activity as early as 0630hrs.

Short briefing then given to the Scouts members by the Rover Assistant District Commissioner, Skipper Mohd. Azwan bin Mohd. Yakof regarding the activities that will be done during the hiking. The hiking team has been also reminded not to act alone without any permission from the leaders and avoid being too loud. The hiking team to Tampalagas Hill started hiking uphill at around 0700hrs.

While hiking up uphill, the Sipitang Scouts hiking team took the opportunity to pick up the litters alongside the road and put it in the garbage plastic bags provided. The hiking team took at least an hour to reach to the top of the hill and continued to pick up the litters at the surroundings of the Tampalagas hill.

Since the Tampalagas Hill is quite popular amongst hikers and runners, a few local people were able to witness the good deeds done by the Sipitang Scouts members on that day.

After being satisfied with the cleanliness of the hill’s surroundings, the team took a break together and had some energy charged by having some snacks.

Mesmerized by the view at the top of the hill, the hiking team members took the chance to explore the surrounding of the hill and took some memorable pictures and shared their own opinion and feelings for the good things they had done to the nature on that day.

Before the hiking team headed downhill, Skipper Mohd. Azwan thanked the Sipitang Scouts hiking team members for their efforts and excellent co-operation. Skipper Mohd. Azwan urged the Scouts to always appreciate and be the best example to the society in preserving the nature and to take care of our environment.

The hiking team headed downhill at around 1130hrs.
