Clearing silt and sand on the bridge
The bridge was filled with silt and sand due to heavy rainfall with improper drainage. The bridge was left unclean for years and to sustain the easy living for villagers and staff in the school, we the Jangbi Scouts had decided to clean the bridge so that the bridge does not get rusted and collapse down in near future. The bridge is constructed over the Mangdue chu river that connects four villages and a school with Langthil gewog administration office and National highway.
The bridge is 7 km away from Jangbi Primary School towards Trongsa - Gelephu National highway and Langthil gewog administration office. With 15 Nachung scouts of Jangbi Scouts Association and few volunteers had taken a day to clear the silt and sand that has been deposited on the bridge. For volunteers and scouts, the lunch was provided by Jangbi school staff as a token of appreciation to our community service.
Approximately, 100 households and 55 school children were benefited from our community service. Some people share the importance of the bridge and learned the lesson that they have to take good care of it.
Since all the scouts are age between 8-14 and there are few volunteers, it took lots of time to clear silt and sand. For better performance and faster to complete, we need to encourage more adult community scouts to join instead of younger scouts.
