Clean Kushtia Campaign: Plastic Waste Management

As Scouts, we noticed a massive accumulation of single-use plastic waste in our local public areas in Kushtia, which was polluting the environment and posing health risks to the community. Witnessing this environmental degradation inspired our Open Scout Group to take action. We felt a strong civic responsibility to clean up our neighborhood, create a healthier environment, and educate local residents about sustainable waste management to inspire long-term change.
With the great opportunity and administrative support given by our Honorable DC Sir and District Scout Leader, Open Scout Group Kushtia successfully executed this campaign. We formed several scout patrols equipped with safety gear to collect non-biodegradable plastic waste from major public areas. Alongside cleaning the environment, we actively conducted an awareness drive, talking to local shopkeepers and pedestrians about proper waste disposal and hygiene.
Through this project, we learned the great power of teamwork and leadership in executing a community action. We discovered that small, collective efforts can create a massive positive impact on environmental protection. We also realized that raising community awareness through direct conversation is highly effective for sustainable change, and as Scouts, our civic duty plays a vital role in inspiring others to maintain a clean and healthy neighborhood.
