Chili Cottage Crew. #FloodVolunteer25/12/21

5 days before, I took up a similar project where we help flood victims clean up the mess caused by natural disaster. I felt truly happy and unsatisfied as I were only able to help them for 2 to 3 hours. This project consumes almost the whole day as we depart early in the morning. Hence, I think this project will able to satisfy my eagerness to help the needy as there will be a lot of things I can do in this project compared to the previous one.

We arrived at Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Lil Muttaqin at 9.15 a.m. and our mission began at 10.15 a.m. My team and I were assigned to clean a cottage and the chili field in front of the cottage. We remove all the mud and waste in the cottage and rinse the cottage floor with water. For the chili field, we remove all the damaged plants and items. In the evening, we cleaned their hall and sorted all the good and bad items. We did all of this with the help of other NGO's.

It took a lot of volunteers to clean up the whole school and I don't think we were able to turn the school back to normal. I saw a lot goods such as books that were damaged by the flood and I can't imagine how bad they feel. However, this project was able to lighten up their burden and able to convince them that they are not alone. There are a lot of people out there who are willing to share the same load. Even though we can't change things to normal, trust me things will get better.

A lot of people out there struggles to breath while we were sound asleep and some choose to swallow the pain fear that they might burden people around them. It is our duty to help them as we live in a cruel world where each of us were born with different capabilities and fortune. People with abilities like us should always do our best to help the unfortunate. It does not matter how big or small our action is. Half a loaf is better than none.
