Champions for Nature-Cleaner Beaches

The project was inspired by the increasing waste and plastic pollution along Chorkor Beach, which threatened the environment and community health. As Scouts dedicated to protecting nature, we saw the need to take action and involve young people in creating a cleaner and safer coastline. Our passion for environmental stewardship and the desire to make a visible difference motivated us to begin this initiative.
The project was executed with partnership from the Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) through the Assemblyman of Chorkor. The AMA help us with technical expertise and the Assemblyman mobilized the community Overall, the project was executed through teamwork, community engagement, consistent action, and proper monitoring, resulting in the successful removal of 4,800kg of waste from the beach.
We learned that teamwork, community involvement, and consistent action are essential for effective environmental change. The project showed us that when young people take responsibility and work with local leaders, lasting impact is possible.
