CENTENARY ROVER RANGER SAMAGAM

To celebrate the Centenary year of Rovering, The Bharat Scouts & Guides; West Bengal State Head Quarter has recently organized five days Rover Samagam at Padima M.P.C.S, at Digha from 26th to 30th December, 2018. About 106 rovers, 53 rangers, 24 adult leaders and 20 staff members from different 15 district associations  and 3 state associations (the Odisha, East Coast railway and South Eastern Railway) actively participated in the said event. 

The camp was inaugurated at 3:00 pm on 26/12/2018 by Mr. Shyamal Kumar Biswas, State Commissioner and eye catching performance of Howrah, Barrackpore and Odisha contingents. Skill Development Activity at 4:30 pm organized successfully where every contingents show their talents on different skill activities. The evening was much enjoy full by the parody song with unconventional musical instrument performed by rovers and rangers. A session on World Youth Involvement Policy was taken by rover Kumar Ritesh Agarwal, the YAMG member of APR at night.

The 27th morning activity started with Aerobics followed by Free Being Me workshop. The Youth Forum was organized from 10:30 am and continues upto 4 pm. Rovers and Rangers exchange and share their valuable recommendations for the theme of Growth and Stability of Rovering and Rangering. A Beach Volly Tournament for Rovers and Beach Kabadi tournament for Rangers successfully organized at the sea beach till 6 pm. At 7:30 pm rovers and rangers participated in Ethnic Fashion Dress Show completion contingent wise where ramp walk, intelligence and dance performance ably judged by the Rovers and Rangers itself.

The morning of 28th started with camp decoration to welcome a team of scouts and guides of different SSK, MSK schools of East Midnapore District and different challenge game bases also settled for them. Rovers and Rangers also enjoyed different challenge activities organized at the same time at the different community points of the Padima village.  The samagam also heartily welcomed the scouts and guides of Burdwan Sadar District Association and they all return with sweet memories. MOP workshop organized at 4 pm by State Co-coordinator. In Group Dance evening at 7pm the rovers and rangers show their remarkable skills in front of a large crowd. The arrangement of live broadcast through giant screen of the whole programme was added some extra ordinary keenness to all. A Film Festival was organized at night where every contingent prepare and present a short video on the theme “Enjoyment and Team Bonding in Samagam”. The videos were so spectacular that participants could not know how two hours spends.

On 29th the samagam went out for a coastal trek upto Talsari beach for about 15 km distance. They also take active part in Beach Cleaning Activity during the trek and ably collect, carry and properly disposed off garbages as they collected. They were in an island for about 5 hours and make backwoodsman cooking, improvised shelters and other wilderness activities. Returning to campsite, the Grand Campfire organized at 8:30 pm in typical manner followed by Grand Dinner.

The Valedictory programme started at 9 am on 30/12/2018 where colourful mementos handed over to the contingents. Kumar Ritesh Agarwal felicitated by the Mr. Rajendra Kumar Das, Vice President of BSG, WB for his Global Achievement. The trophies of different competition events also awarded to deserving persons. The Mr. Samagam Trophy – Rover of East Calcutta District; Miss. Samagam trophy – Ranger of Odisha State; Champion of Ganabazana – Barrackpore District; Champion of Group Dance – South Eastern Railway State; Champion of Campfire – Katwa District. After flag down and national anthem rovers and rangers return back to their home safely with sweet memories.
