Celebration on World Happiness Day
Report on World Happiness Day
Today 20th March, 2019 is celebrated as World Happiness Day throughout the globe. The theme of the day is “Happier Together”. As being the UNESCO club coordinator, CBS troop leader celebrated World Happiness Day.
Firstly we introduce the day with the proverbs said by our fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck, “Gross National Happiness is more important than Gross National Product”. Then we marked the day by lighting the butter lamp by our school manager, secretary and our only staff lady.
After that I went around the classes asking what happiness really means to them. Most of the students, teacher and manager gave positive except two students who had witness their parents day earlier fighting said that, today they are not happy and had not done their home work. I could not hold my tears as they one of student broke into tears. I encouraged studying hard and trying to be good human being. He said he will never be like their parents crying.
I made a movie title “what is happiness for me”. By marking the day I got lots of idea as follow:
- Importance of the day
- Understand before teaching
- Be positive
- Everybody is important
This year I could just celebrate without much preparation. Next year I will prepare and do more differently than this year. I will involve parents in the celebration. I knew that the child happiness is in the hands of their parents especially when they are at home. If they are happy they could concentrate and act lively throughout the lesson. I found that it was important as being teacher to convey the messages to parents to mold them and support them.
