Bus Stop Moments
Before pandemic, sanitizing public places such as bus stop, public transport, garden benches were rarely conducted as there were no threats if we don't do so. Hence, there are no workers assigned in disinfecting or sanitizing these places. However, since the outbreak of COVID- 19 on 2019, sanitizing became a very crucial steps to ensure our own safety but still, there are no workers assigned for this particular job. Here comes the idea of cleaning and sanitizing public spaces.
For this project, we were assigned to clean up and sanitize three bus stops in our campus. The three bus stops were the bus stops for three residential college which are Ibrahim Yaakub, Ungku Omar and Keris Mas. We collected all the waste, rubbish, dead leaves, sanitized and clean up the benches and swept the floor. The waste were then discarded at the main junkyard of each residential college.
Discarding all the unwanted waste which were scattered on the bus stop floor resulting a convenient waiting place. This will also prevent wild dogs, monkeys and pests from hovering around and disturb the users. Sanitizing benches and other possible place that might come contact with human were able to reduce the spread of COVID-19 among users. This act might look simple but it is very beneficial and might able to save lives.
During this pandemic, awareness and knowledge about the disease are crucial. Conducting this project will not only benefit the society in terms of cleanliness and safety but raise the awareness on the importance of sanitizing public places and keeping other people safe, not only our self. To combat this disease, all of us should contribute and cooperate with one another to ensure our health and safety.
