BULIGanay Achieved!
BULIGanay Achieved!
by Eagle Scout Ro-Anne Lozada
BULIGanay, the initiative spearheaded by the Eagle Scouts Association of the Philippines Iloilo Chapter last November 3, 2019 for the earthquake victims in Mindanao connotes two different ideas;
First, "buliganay" or helping is a karay-a term that describes the act of helping. Second, "bulig anay" or "help me first" is a karay-a expression used when requesting for help, tells you to let go of the things you are currently doing and to prioritize helping the one who requested.
Unquestionably, the essence of this initiative was achieved through the immediate response coming from different institutions, scouts, friends and other people lending their hand.
The following outfits who responded to the calling were Caninguan National High School Outfit 196, Lambunao National High School Outfit 528, Calinog National Comprehensive High School Outfit 526, Jaro National High School Outfit 563, St Augustine Catholic School Outfit 1005, Banate National High School Outfit 235, Iloilo National High School Outfit154, JBLFMU- Arevalo BSP, SPED-ISEC, ISAT-U Outfit 271-272, Esteban Juntado Memorial Elementary School, Ramon AvanceƱa National High School Outfit 188 Payao National High School Outfit 403, Anilao National High School Outfit 424, Banate National High School Outfit 253.
Last November 11, 2019, the donations were handed over by the Eagle Scouts of Iloilo to the Philippine Coast Guard who will be bringing it over to the victims in Mindanao.
The little things that we do can make a big impact in the lives of other people.
