Building a New Generation of Ethical Leaders
Across Africa, young people are increasingly stepping into leadership spaces that shape the future of their communities and institutions. Between August 2025 and March 2026, the World Scout Bureau – Africa Support Centre implemented the project “Empowering Youth for Change Through Scouting in Africa”, aimed at strengthening governance systems, leadership capacity, and meaningful youth participation within our NSOs.
The Good Governance workshop brought together 87 direct participants, young people and adult leaders from across the Africa Scout Region. Participants explored key themes such as ethical leadership, transparency, accountability, strategic planning, and youth-adult partnerships.
The project contributed to stronger youth-adult partnerships, improved understanding of governance principles, and increased confidence among young people to take up leadership roles.
Although the project has concluded, its impact continues through NSO action plans, cascading training models, and ongoing mentorship. Young leaders are now sharing knowledge within their organizations, strengthening local capacity and ensuring that learning reaches even more communities.
The Africa Scout Region continues to support participating NSOs through follow-up engagement and peer learning platforms, ensuring that the progress achieved is sustained and expanded.
