BOSCONIAN SCOUTING ASSOCIATION
The Bosconian Scouting Association or more commonly known as the BOSCA is latest addition to Don Bosco's lineup of school-based organizations. This scouting association was founded by Scout Ian Christopher Mangaoang together with Scout Apollo Joshua Mina.
The association was originally comprised of eight scouts namely: Lee Avek Buyucan, Dominic Esgana, Jaydee Gatchalian, Reyner Rodas, Jerico Pader, Edward Jacinto, Victor Cansino, and Howard Domanas as the first official members together with Ian Mangaoang and Apollo Mina. The organization was originally called the SSA or the Senior Scouting Advancement program. The urge to have a less generic pushed the organization to adopt the name BSA and BSDA, Bosconian Scouting Association and Bosconian Scouting Development Association Respectively. But coming into infringement policies concerning acronyms the name BOSCA was finally settled on.
Currently the BOSCA is one of the most active school organizations on campus bolstering membership of 42 scouts, 37 of which have passed the grueling Board of review for membership and the remaining 5 as appointed by the chairman.
As of S.Y. 2013-2014 the newly elected BOSCA chairman and Associate Chairman: Lee Avek Buyucan and Dominic Esgana respectively together with the members of the BOSCA committee of Trustees have already planned the upcoming Board of review which will be held this June 2014. Several revision in the ranking system have been made to ensure its members comply with the standards set by the national office of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
In an interview the incumbent BOSCA chairman, Lee Avek Buyucan He said that his responsibility of being the new chairman will be very hard but he will try his best to lead the BOSCA one step at a time.
