Beach Clean Up - 1st Monte vIsta

The story of Bob the Turtle has had a huge impact on our Cubs. So when we discussed a litter less project with our Cubs , it was a unanimous decision.
It took the form of a District beach Clean up of the short stretch between Sunset Beach and Dolphin beach . Cubs walked in pairs collecting rubbish as they went along. They filled many municipal bags with mostly plastic. The City of Cape Town arranged the bags and then also collected the full bags at the end.
i believe the impact is immeasurable. Collecting all that rubbish prevented it from being blown/ washed into the Ocean as well as polluting the communities streets and drains
We underestimated the amount of rubbish and did not have sufficient refuse bags. Next times we require far more bags as well as a means to move the heavy bags from the beach
