Attraction of Rwandan pygmies to Scouting
The story of the Rwandan Pygmies is one of the gradual marginalization of a once-populous people. Originally hunter-gatherers in the forests of Rwanda, the Pygmies' traditional culture and way of life differ dramatically from the mainstream, causing a history of conflict and resulting in a very real threat to their extinction. Today they suffers malnutrition, destitution, and inaccessible education, their lands have been taken by private developers. Their traditional sources of food are nearly exhausted. But there is hope through Diversity and inclusion in scouting they will be enabled to gain required knowledge and capabilities to take care of themselves.
