Akhanda Maha Jaap Yagya

Five days Akhanda Maha Mantra Jaap Yagya (Feb 1 to Feb 5) prayer was conducted in Samtse to celebrate the first birth anniversary of the crowned prince, Gyalsey Jigme Namgyal Wangchuk. This type is the first ever in the history of Bhutan and was organized by the Hindu Sanathan Dharma of Bhutan (HSDB). Thousands of devotees from different districts and even the neighbouring state of India attended the Yagya and recited the Maha Mantra (Om Namaha Shiva) for the long and healthy life of Gyalsey. 108 Pureoths and Pundits were involved in reciting the Mitru Yangal Mantra (tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam urvārukamiva bandhanānmṛtyormukṣīya mā'mṛtāt) and put Hawan (fire sacrifices) non-stop for 84 hours (From 5pm of Feb1 to 11am of Feb 12). 15 Scouts and 20 Desuups (out of which 4 were scout masters) volunteered along with police personals and other volunteers for the conduct of the Yagya. We had very energetic leadership trained scouts to help the public providing a warm hospitality. The duty started as early as 8:00 am and went till 5:30 pm in the evening and even longer sometimes. त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्
