AHOBILAM TREK
AHOBILAM TREK OF TEMPLES AND BEYOND. All the members of assembled at 9PM and started the travel to Ahobilam in
a cab after few minutes of personal prayers. The travel almost took 8 to 9 hours and we reached the spot around 6am the next day. We stayed in a “Veda Padasalai” and after breakfast we started our trek. Our first visit was to the Ahobilam Narasimha also known as “Ugra Narasimha” temple which is located at a distance of 8km from the lower Ahobilam. Our trek towards this temple was quite interesting which consisted of climbing a mountain. While going back we visited the 8th
temple of Narasimha called as the Krodakara(Varaha) Narasimha swamy. After lunch we started again for trekking to the 7th temple of Narasimha called the Jwala Narasimha swamy which lies on top of the mountain. This was followed by the visit to Malola Narasimha temple and the Karanja Narasimha temple which is situated at a distance of 1km from the upper
Ahobilam. Finishing the day’s trek we returned back to our camp. After refreshing, all the Rovers and Rangers were assembled for a small meeting and had a healthy discussion. After the meeting, we all had sumptuous dinner at 8.30PM and went to bed. The next day we started our trek towards a place called Ugra Stambham which is at a distance of 8km from the upper Ahobilam temple. We climbed to the cleft of the mountain which was divided into two parts. This part of the trek was much more adventurous. On the way, while returning back from the cleft of the mountain we visited the 4th temple
named Yogananda Narasimha and it was followed by 3rd temple that is Ahobilam Nava Narasimha. This temple is called as Chatravata Narasimha swamy which is on the same route to Pavana Narasimha, 2nd temple of Navanarasimha. Pavana
Narasimha is on the banks of river and it is about 6km from the upper Ahobilam temple. Lastly, our visit to Bhargava Narasimha temple which is the first temple of Ahobilam Navanarasimha. After our visit to the temples, we returned back to our rooms around 1.30 PM, refreshed ourselves and started our travel back to Chennai. We felt thankful to the person who guided us for the trek and temples on both the days.
