Action at GMC
I was inspired to serve at Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) by a profound sense of national pride and devotion to His Majesty the King’s vision. Rather than seeing GMC as merely an urban development, Bhutanese citizens view it as a historic "People’s Project" critical to the nation's future and Gross National Happiness. Working side-by-side fosters an extraordinary spirit of collective unity, purpose, and shared responsibility in shaping this innovative, sustainable economic hub.
Individuals from different departments and districts join volunteer action; ground leveling and bush clearing are essential foundational tasks for preparing future recreation areas in the Gelephu Mindfulness City. This hands-on groundwork lays the physical groundwork for community well-being and leisure, directly supporting His Majesty the King's vision of creating a balanced, sustainable, and harmonious urban ecosystem where residents and visitors can connect with nature.
Volunteering in ground leveling teaches patience and resilience, showing that grand visions start with humble physical work. Side by side with others, you learn the power of unity and collective responsibility. Most importantly, shaping a future recreation area grounds you in nation-building, prioritizing community well-being and harmony with nature.
