PAWS Animal Welfare Society is a shelter or also known as a 'home' or a 'second chance' for pets that have been unfortunate enough to be neglected by their very own owners who presumably had not considered the commitment they needed when they have gotten them as pets in the first place because getting a pet itself is a life long commitment and strays that have been fortunate enough to be rescued by PAWS. I have volunteered as a volunteer at PAWS on a Saturday morning along with my family and during my volunteering hours I have seen families surrendering their dogs as well as families that are giving them a forever home, a second chance by adopting. I would definitely return again to volunteer because to us it may be just a shelter but to them it may be another chance at life or death and I would like them to have the love and affection they were supposed to because every neglected pet deserve a second chance in life. It does not matter if an individual helps out for an hour or a whole day because it brings a big helping hand to the shelter and a real joy to the unfortunate pets there.Besides us there were also 8 other volunteers present.We could choose a variety of activities to carry out in the shelter such as bathing the dogs,spending time with the pets, walking the dogs and so on.However, if there is no specific activity that an individual would like to carry out, the individual would be assigned to simple activities by the workers of the shelter such as cleaning the shelter area or spending time with the pets there.Next, other than donations in the form of food, the activities that I have carried out in the shelter were walking the dogs, bathing the dogs, spending time with the dogs and also feeding them treats.
