5 Regional Youth Forums - Nepal Scouts

Finland and Nepal Scouts Partnership Project (F-NPP) organised five Regional Youth Forums in each development region of Nepal in November-December 2013. 45 districts sent over 200 participants elected in local level District Youth Forums earlier that year. Regional Youth Forums were organised in Gorkha, Surkhet, Saptari, Tikapur and Birganj. The objectives of the Youth Forum were to familiarize 16-26 years old Rovers and Rangers to the Youth Policy of Nepal Scouts and modify the structure of Nepal Scout organisation so that the voice of the youth could be better heard. Each Forum elected the representatives for the Regional Youth Councils and also participants for the National Youth Forum held in 2014. All forums had the same timetable more or less. On the first day was full of lectures, group discussions and games. On the second day the participants were given the lead of the programme, given more time for group discussions and assignments and eventually they elected the representatives of the National Youth Forum. During the very intensive two days the participants were discussing about how to develop the Nepal Scout organization, how to involve more youth, how scouts can build peace on local level and how to encourage scouts to so more effectively. A volunteer from the Guides and Scouts of Finland, Ms. Jenni Kemppainen, had the pleasure to participate four Youth Forums around Nepal. Read about her experiences from the attachment below.
