SUBHAS Scout Group has completed its 42 years of Scouting and enters into its 43rd year. We are celebrating our 42nd Anniversary as BRAVERS’ DAY and we were also discussing about it in our meeting to celebrate in a grand manner. As our anniversary falls in summer vacation we tried to keep useful for the children in the colony, so that we planned to make a Drawing/Painting Competition on 18.05.2013, as we planned we made arrangements and created awareness among the four colonies that we are conducting a Painting Competition and we made an age limit of 7 to 10 years for boys as well as girls and we also made a compulsory one that only our colony children should participate. We walked among the four colonies of Integral Coach Factory and went to each and every home to say (i.e.) door to door awareness. We made this awareness campaign on 16.05.2013 so that they will remember, moreover many children’s were of out station but we din’t lose our hope and made every possible child to participate. After a walk in the four colonies we made arrangements for the following day competition we made our premises clean, the drawing hall was made arranged for the children to draw. While the awareness campaign we gave a registration form to them, who are willing want to participate and we noted down the details for our confirmation. We gave the charts to the children with their registration number on the competition day. The children were very eager to paint their imagination we gave the theme as Nature as it is easy to see and imagine. The children came to our den by 4:30 pm on 18.05.2013 and we started the competition exactly by 4:45 pm and the duration was 1 hour. Children brought their own things, before starting of the competition Mr. V. Arivazhagan, Group leader/Scouts spoke among the Children’s, who have come for their competitions and wishes them to draw well, while kids were painting Our District Commissioner Guides Smt. Vijaya Venkatesan were spectating the drawings and Our GLS, Scout Master, Group Official’s, Project Co – ordinate, SOC and other Group officials were with them. The competition was interesting and exciting it made us think that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. Many of the children completed before 10 minutes of the finishing timing, but they were made to wait till everyone completes their drawings. The children’s parents were waiting outside the drawing hall and Our GLS made it clear that the drawings will be judged by 3 Artists, and the results will posted in the notice board within two days and the first three places will be awarded with one consolation prize, every participants will be getting their participation certificate on 25.05.2013. After the message was given, we closed our programme 18.05.2013. As the second part of our founders day celebration we planned to conduct inter patrol competition for scouts and rovers, As per our plan on 25th may 2013 , as usual we started our programme with inauguration of main flag mast with Cubs, Scouts & Rovers and also with other Group Officials , BSG flag was hosted by Mr.Saravan Kumar, Scout /SSG. After the flag ceremony over, Scout section was handed over to Mr. V.Arivazhagan ASM/SSG and Rover Section to Mr.P.Anburasan ARSL/SSG, Rovers were split into 2 patrols, at first rovers made out their improvised shelter and flag host with quick period of time. Side by side scouts also started their activities by splitting into four teams, and started making trestle which is one of their competitions. We all had a break for some time, by that time masters planned what to give for next competition , after that Scouts & Rovers were re- Assembled , this time for Rovers it was advanced Knots with two different bases , new rovers enjoyed a lot on making out knots like Rolling Hitch , Timber Hitch, Highway Man Hitch etc… For rover section paper work was also been conducted in all scouting knowledge, and this followed by an surprise paper work given, after finishing paper work, we all went for having lunch and we took rest for some time. And after some time we all Re – Assembled with both Scouts and Rover Section, this time task was pioneering project for both scouts and Rovers, for scouts it was hut making and for rovers it was Dinning Table. Within few minutes our scouts and Rovers arranged the materials which are needed for that project. After masters tell start we started our project, Masters gave only half an hour to complete the project. Every rover & scout was involved in doing this project, everyone as active on doing project. After half an hour masters inspected the pioneering project both for scouts & rover section, they encouraged new rovers & scouts for doing their project well & good And final section for Rovers Visual Quiz which that includes the Elder scouts in our scouting, Freedom Fighters, Rare Fruits and Trees. After finishing all their competitions, scouts & rovers started to work for evening valedictory function. Some of them went preparing exhibition hall, Exhibition hall which it covers of old & very old Memories of group photo and certificate won by our group. Some of them went for preparing refreshments and others make ready auditorium with decoration, we all finished our work before 16 .00Hrs. At that time Mr.T.Babu RSL/SSG, Inaugurated the exhibition hall and he saw photos and certificates of our group and appreciated our old collections and came to auditorium by that Chief Guest of the Day Smt.Vijaya Venkatesan, ANO/ICF Hospital , Mr.Gunasekaran, Mr. Dhanasekaran, and other Group Leaders Mr.S.R.Tamilselvan, Mr.Jayaraman , Mrs.Dhanalaskhmi and other District officials also came to our function . Our function started by 5.00 pm welcomes everyone for this gathering Mr.D.udaya Kumar SM/SSG and chief guest lighted kuthu velaku and after he spoke about group, who are the main backbone of our group from our founder Mr.Shrivasa shetty (Late) to till date. After that highlight of the day was launching of group web site, group web site was published by Chief Guest Smt.Vijaya Venkatesan ANO/ICF Hospital, Mr.Gajendra Babu SOC/SRBSG, Mr.S.R.Tamilselvan GLS/VOC, chief guest Smt.Vijaya Venkatesan ANO/ICF Hospital, address the gathering and prizes distribution was given to the winners of drawing competition which was held on 18.05.2013 in connection with founders’ day and finally we concluded our function with National anthem.
