3G (Go, Green, Grow)
Pelrithang HSS stands with motto '' 3Gs
Go, Green, Grow" with school’s motto in their heart, a group of young boys took part in helping Gelephu Gewog Waste Management team in segregating the degradable and Non-degradable waste during the pandemic.
Young people from the community coming forward and involving themselves to keep their place neat and clean motivated and the goal was to motivate as many young people as possible to take such initiatives.
The project took place at the Pelrithang Geog center (Block center)under Sarpang District, Bhutan. 25 young volunteers who are students of Pelrithang HSS and belonging from that community came forward to segregate the waste dumped at the site. for It was a great support to Gelephu Gewog Waste Management. With due consent from the Local Administrators the project took place on
28.04.2022. Waste management awareness in the school motivated the young children to take the initiative.
Since the waste dumping site in just near by the road side, there use to be unfriendly smells. After the project took place, about 200 people living in that community were sensitized and became more responsible in managing their daily household waste.
Asa result of their own children involving in cleanup project, the parents became responsible and the amount of waste in the dumping site has also seen greatly reduced. This is the great achievement from this project.
From this project, it is learnt that creating awareness about waste management to the young children and involving the same young people to take initiative in managing waste in their own community can have an immense positive impact. Along with the children, their parents and relatives get automatically sensitized.
