112th National Day celebration.
Every year in Bhutan we celebrate National day on 11th December, it’s a day where we the people can express our gratitude and love toward the Royal family who has been safeguarding the citizens of Bhutan for over a hundred year. My motivation to participate came form our Fifth King, as his name suggests he is the people king, he has always been thinking on how to bring happiness and peace to his people. As such it was a perfect opportunity for me to express my gratitude toward the royal family.
It started during a selection where the head of culture department and the scout leader selected few students to represent the school during national day.We started to practice with many different middle schools from Thimphu, we had over 5,000 students participate. We practiced our programs for over a month perfecting our roles to impress our king and people.On the day of the performance there were well over 20,000 people were spectating our performance.
More than 20,000 people were benefited as they enjoyed our performance, they felt proud and a sense of patriotism had arise.It impacted the people and community as the event gave people hope and happiness for our country to become a better place for everyone to be in. It helped people to give the realization to work harder to preserve our biodiversity, culture and tradition, which give our country its uniqueness and prosperity, as it keeps us United and maintain our sovereignty.
This even has taught me many values and help me realize that my responsibility as a youth and a students is to preserve my culture and traditions so that the future generation can see how unique and special our country is.It taught me the power of teamwork as this event wouldn’t have been possible without everyone’s cooperation.It made me feel proud and makes me continue to do better for the country and to one day serve it’s people and make our country well know to the other parts of the world.
