zero waste project

zero waste project

On Sunday 27th October I gathered 83 scouts and 11 scout masters to Dr. Rajaguru open scout troop camp site (Gilwell park), Walahena, Kakkapalliya with the help of our District Commissioner. Parents of the scouts were also participated.

I lined up the scouts, troop wise at the troop ground, taught them about this zero waste environment program, how this campaign would help to make a sustainable environment and I also told them about how I got to know about this program. After giving them the basic idea on this project we all went inside the hall as a heavy rain was about to come. There, our D.C briefed some information about ‘zero waste’. Next, after the distribution of leaflets to the D.C, scout leaders, scouts, and the parents, I taught them all the things that were taught for me by the messenger of peace leaders at our meeting. At last I made an animal face flower pot with an empty plastic coke bottle, together with them. At the end I asked them to gather on 3rd of November, 2019 at Madampe Co-operative Theater to carry out the campaign of making the community aware on ‘zero waste’.

Similarly on the following day, I taught the scouts of Chilaw “Ladani Home”, before starting their enrolment ceremony and from there 17 scouts and a scout leader joined hands with us for the program.
