What is Inclusion? What is Diversity? You have until September 5th to win a Scholaship #ScoutIAR

You have until September the 5th to engage with the Interamerican Symposium Inclusion and Diversity in Scouting. For the contest we have defined the concepts of Inclusion and Diversity in Scouting. Inclusion in Scouting is defined as the process of identifying and responding to the different needs and characteristics of children and youth through an increased participation in the Youth Program we offer. This vision involves changes and modifications in content, approaches, structures and strategies, with a common vision that includes all youth according to its age range. It is considered that the differences and disabilities are not a problem but an opportunity for the enrichment of society through active participation not only in Scouting but also in family life, education, work and generally in all social, cultural processes and in their communities. The inclusion is necessary if we want to achieve:• A fairer and more respectful world against differences. • Benefit all people regardless of their characteristics, without labeling or excluding. • Provide equitable access, making constant adjustments to allow the participation of all and taking into consideration the contribution of each person to society. Diversity refers to groups of people who are different. This includes any dimension that can be used to differentiate between groups or between individuals, such as sex, age, socioeconomic status, education, interests, personal characteristics, ethnicity, faith or origin, among others. As our societies are increasingly diverse, it is important that Scouting reflects this situation and strives to represent the society in which is immersed. It may be true that human groups with more diversity may be more difficult to manage due to the differences among its members, but this feature also offers different views and new ideas.
