SPIRIT OF UNITY - WA! “Wa: a Spirit of Unity” is the theme for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree. The kanji character “wa” means harmony, unity, friendship, and peace. It is in this spirit that the Scout Association of Japan will welcome Scouts from around the world to the 2015 World Scout Jamboree, Wa: A Spirit of Unity. If you ask what unity means for me I’ll call it Life itself. Starting from his creation Human can’t survive alone and need community in all stages of his life. Looking at history of ancient empires we can see how easy to destroy any state and it’s people if the are not unite. Spirit of unity is something what we can find in base of any religion. Holy Quran calls for unite saying: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. (3-103) Holy Bible says: Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. (1 Peter 3:8) My grandparents told me about peak of Unity of my people. It happened on January 20, 1990 which we call Black January for all Azerbaijan, since it was the date when Azerbaijan paid with large number of victims for it’s Independence from USSR. First, but not the last one. Sometimes people need to face real tragedy in order to show their desire to unite. I believe that real Spirit of Unity live in each of us. It starts from the family even the small one. Then your neighborhood, school team, university, country and step by step it grows and comes to demand of unity on global level. I strongly convinced that everything humanity acquire will lead us to a common goal - Wa: a Spirit of Unity. I feel happy looking how people from different continents with completely polar view of life, religious affiliation, nationality, race, gender and age communicate with each other. Only in this moments you realize that you’re Human being, the part of a Great World, where all people can and deserve to feel themselves as an important component of Universe. Each of them important and precious and each deserves normal Life and Peace. Let’s work on it, since that’s the only way to survive and stay a real Human. There is no Harmony without Peace.
