VIRTUAL OBSERVATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE (IDP) 2023 AT NATIONAL LEVEL
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. Like every year International Day of Peace was celebrated at PAN India Level with a month long program from Unit to National since 01st September 2023. Also a 03 day series of National level Webinar from 19th to 21st September 2023 from 04:00 to 06:00 pm (IST) has been conducted. The Webinar gave importance on involvement of Scouts and Guides in SDGs. Sh. Madhusudhan Avala, Add. International Commissioner (Scouts) was the resource Speakers and delivered session of Impact of Scouts and Guides in SDGs on the first day (19.09.2023). Dr. Prabhat Kumar, IAS (Retd), State Chief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh was the Chief Guest and shared their experience related to Government plans and action on this important topic on Second Day Webinar (20.09.2023). Ms. Monika Mourya and Sh. Narendra Singh Chouhan represented the UNICEF in the webinar and deliver session of Climate Action. Third Day – 21st Sept, 2023 is gala celebration presenting glimpses of the IDP activities around the country presented through zoom and YouTube. Ms. Candela Gonzalez, Chair World Board, WAGGGS, Mr. S Prassanna Shrivastava, Director, Organizational Development. World Scout Bureau, Asia Pacific Support Centre, Dr. Kali Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Senior Vice President of BSG-India and State Chief Commissioner - Odisha State and many other Distinguished dignitaries from WOSM and WAGGGS and BSG grace the occasion.
