Traffic Awareness Programme – ‘1Crore Steps for Safer Roads’
Road Deaths are biggest cause of Unnatural Deaths in our Country. Pedestrians are killed across the country and contribute to the significant share of these deaths. In an endeavour to highlight the subject and sensitize not only individuals but also organisations, Club D2S - Drive Smart Drive Safe (D2S), An NGO for Road Safety, with the support of CII-Yi, FICCI, ACMA, SIAM, Hella, WABCO & Brakes India is launching a unique project titled ‘1Crore Steps for Safer Roads’. The project entails a record walk from Kanyakumari to Delhi, a distance of 3200 kilometres, to be covered in just 60 days. The walk will be undertaken by Subramanian ‘Subu’ Narayanan, who will cover about 20 cities across South, West and North India. The project envisages participation and engagement from the general public in the form of short walks to show their solidarity with Subramanian ‘Subu’ Narayanan and the cause.
The event was inaugurated on 28th July from Vivekananda Statue at Kanyakumari – Tamilnadu, The Bharat Scouts and Guides Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka State Associations has fully support the Programme by walking Scouts and Guides with Mr. Subu, creating awareness among the common public and organising mass gathering and press meet etc. The movement has completed more than 75,00,000 + steps (3/4 of the programme) before completing its journey in Southern India with the support of the public specially our members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. Mr. Subu has express emence pleasure for the support of the Bharat Scouts and Guides for the cause.
Our humble appeal to all Scouts and Guides to create Traffic Awareness in their community and safe the life. This will be the great contribution to the nation by building awareness around you – safe drive and save life. And we are confident on our Scouts and Guides we be the role model and set examples for others.
