Scouts Visit Disaster-Hit Matla Village

The Snow Land Scouts & Guides Open Group, Kullu, visited Matla village in the Sainj Valley today to meet families affected by the recent disaster. During the visit, the team observed that around 30 houses in the village have been completely damaged. Families have been forced to leave their broken homes and are now living in temporary shelters. Some have rented small rooms in nearby villages, while others, along with their children, elderly members, and even livestock, are taking refuge in cowsheds. The local administration has provided each family with only ₹5,000 as immediate relief along with a basic relief kit containing rations and essential supplies. However, this support is proving insufficient to meet the daily needs of the families. The road to the village has been blocked for the past 15–20 days, many households are facing a severe shortage of clean water, and mobile network connectivity is completely unavailable. In such challenging circumstances, the affected families are struggling for survival and require urgent support from both the administration and the wider community.
