Scouts for Peace: Melawi's Interfaith Dialogue

The Melawi Branch Scout Movement (Kwarcab Melawi), in collaboration with Dialogue for Peace (DfP) Facilitators, has launched the "Young Peace Builder Programme" to equip Rover and Venturer Scouts with essential peace-building skills. Held on October 31, 2025, at SMP Negeri 2 Tanah Pinoh, the program brought together 50 Scouts to learn about tolerance, conflict management, and their role as "messengers of peace," as emphasized in the Indonesian Scout Law (Dasa Darma). The full-day program blended intensive training with practical action. Scouts participated in modules on Community Conflict Mapping and Peaceful Media Literacy. A key highlight was the "Harmony Dialogue Among Community andReligious Leaders," where representatives from Islamic, Catholic, and Protestant faiths shared messages of unity. This was reinforced by visits to various local houses of worship, providing participants with a direct understanding of interfaith harmony. This initiative is a follow-up to a national DfP Training of Trainers and is fully supported by the National Scout Kwartir (Kwarnas), Temasek Foundation, the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), and the global Scouts for SDGs framework. Empowered as new "agents of change," the participants are now expected to design and implement their own local peace projects, ensuring the program's sustainable impact on their communities.
