Scouts in Northern Ghana commences Final Phase of the "Scouts Against Covid19 and Campaign for Electoral Peace Project"
Rover scouts in northern Ghana commenced the final phase of the scouts against covid19 and campaign for electoral peace project a week ago. This final phase of the project is very important to the scout association and its growth as it will contribute greatly to the realization of the WOSM Vision 2023. The project seeks to start community based scout groups in ten rural communities in the northern region of Ghana.
These communities are part of the fifty communities previously visited for the covid19 prevention sensitization and electoral peace campaign. In order to ensure sustainability of the project, the project implementation team inculcated the formation of what we described as “Hygiene Clubs” in some of the rural communities.
These clubs consist of young people who are passionate about sanitation and the development of their communities in general and are volunteering their time to be part of the group whose purpose is to meet once in a while to talk about sanitation and hygiene related issues and generally about things that bother them and their immediate environment and discover through their discussions, ways that they can either find solutions to these problems or contribute to making the situation better.
The intention was to convert these Hygiene clubs into scout groups in due time when the interest grow and commit them to maintaining the group and eventually registering with the NSO as well as participate in all scouting activities.
