Scouts as helping hands - Ethiopia

Koshe also known as Repi is a large open landfill which takes rubbish and waste from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The name of the area means “dirty” in Amharic. The site was in operation for over 50 years. On March 11, 2017 a landslide caused a massive wall of garbage to collapse which led to the death of at least 115 people as a number of houses were buried in garbage. There are still many more people missing and displaced. Following this unfortunate incident, our Scouts went to help in ways they could such as donating cloths and sanitary materials.
