Scout currently developing an app to easily learn about the SDGs

Scouts4SDGsPH is an app that is currently being developed and programmed by Eagle Scout John Dyrick M. Dormis from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Bacolod City Council which aims to alleviate the burden of learning about the Sustainable Development Goals by providing basic information for offline use.

With the app, users will be able to access basic information regarding the 17 goals of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals without the need for constant internet connection, only a one-time download of the app.

This app could become very helpful not only to Scouts, but to everyone, to learn about the SDGs.

Scout Dormis said that this could also be a contribution to the fight against the spread of COVID-19 as it encourages users to spend time learning information about the SDGs at home, rather than going outside their houses for unnecessary reasons.

Scout Dormis is learning basic android programming through the course of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the Philippines, this shows that one can utilize their time in learning during the lockdown, but they need to have resources.

This shows the need of everyone to have access to information and close the gap that the digital divide has created.

The app is currently still at the development stage, but when it is finished the "apk", or the file needed for installation for android phones, will be uploaded for free for everyone's use.
