TELLING OUR STORIES: SCOUTING IN NIGERIA ATTAINS ONE CENTURY + ONE Today 21st of November 2016, Scouting in Nigeria became “One Century + One”. The body started as Boy Scout of Nigeria in 1915, through the enactment of Boy Scout of Nigeria Federal Parliament Act of 1915 just a year after the beginning of Country called Niger area that became Nigeria. Scouting started in 1907, through a Retired British Soldier named: Lord Robert Stevenson-Symthe Baden Powel – Baron of the Gilwell Park and the Hero of Mafeking. Scouting became important in Nigeria that, it was established within the first Ten-years of its existence Worldwide. As importance as Scouting was and still is, on the development of Young Nigerians into Good Citizens and making them to be useful not only to themselves, but to Others, their Local and International Communities. The first Governor General of Nigeria and several Governor General became the Titular Delegated Head of Scouting in Nigeria representing the Monarchy of England. First Secretary to the Government of Nigeria being member of Board of Trustee and the Archbishop of Lagos called the Archbishop of Benin Coast; Bishop Ferdinand Terrien became the Governance Head of Scouting at 1915 that Boy Scout of Nigeria was established.
