CHEERS TO THE 100 YEARS OF SCOUTING IN THE PHILIPPINES! 2014 marks the 100th year of Philippine Scouting Movement. It is one of the oldest in the world. As per our country’s scouting history, the earliest documented formation of a scout troop was that of the Lorillard Spencer Troop in Zamboanga formed by a US Navy 2nd Lieutenant named Sherman Kiser on November 15, 1914 and are composed of young Muslim Filipino boys. Philippines celebrated its Centennial Year with THREE BIG JAMBOREE CLUSTERS each on its major islands: LUZON November 4-8, 2014 (Barangay Fortune, Marikina City) VISAYAS November 7-11, 2014 (Capitol Hills Scout Camp Cebu City) MINDANAO November 9-13, 2014 (Zamboanga Freeport Zone, Talizayan, Zamboanga City) The Luzon leg was participated by more than 13,000 scouts and adult leaders from the different provinces and regions of the entire Luzon. Held at Marikini City, the camp actually encompassed 8 days for some of the councils have arrived earlier than the expected start of the camp and went home after the Closing Ceremony on the 9th of November Here are the Modules Scouts had to enjoy and experience: MODULE 1: 21st Century Leadership and Core Life Skills (Changed to Messenger Of Peace Initiative) MODULE 2: Global Development and the City of Science MODULE 3: Learner’s Trade and Learner’s Market MODULE 4: The Lorillard Spencer Troop Community Service MODULE 5: Back to Basic Scout Craft and Orienteering Course MODULE 6: Outdoor and Water Adventure Expedition Here are some of my photos taken from the Luzon Leg of the Centennial Jamboree.
