OUR STORY

Rowallan Integrated Fish Pond and Agri-farm project (Food For Life Project)is a Model project that is aimed at educating , empowering and skill development to as many youths who can play a vital role in the development agenda in our nation. The project has been initiated by Rowallan Rovers Scouts Crew, a group of 20 scouts who live in the informal settlement of Kibera. They came together as environmental ambassadors to prevent deforestation at the centre. Lack of land in the slum is a great challenge but The Kenya Scouts Association has allowed us use Rowallan Scouts Training centre which is secure and suitable for this model project. For a successful implementation of this project, we undertook the implementation into phases with specific activities in each phase. This Included, Initial planning phase, Implementation phase and Capacity and Skill building. As a Model project we shall collaborate with The Kenya Scouts Association to implement more projects of similar nature to positively impact the over 1 million scout’s membership in Kenya and also encourage other partnerships as we roll out the program to the other scout crews. This project aims to recruit and engage over 100 youths in Kibera slum into scouting activities. We also engage in social programs by volunteering at St Catherine Orphanage, this project will also provide a source of food for the community. We hope to benefit the dozens of the least-supported Rover scouts in Kenya, other organized youth groups between the ages of 14 and 28 in Kenya. As messengers of peace, we are engaging as many youths in scouting activities we believe we shall reduce the rate of crime and violence. The community is our target market of our quality farm produce, so we shall offer them tour of our farm; most of them are visitors to the centre.
