
NIGERIAN SCOUTS COMMEMORATES RAMADAN WITH A SPECIAL LECTURE
Ramadan (/ˌræməˈdɑːn/; Arabic: رمضان Ramaḍān, IPA: [ramaˈdˤaːn]; also romanized as Ramazan, Ramadhan, or Ramathan) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (Sawm) to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon, according to numerous biographical accounts compiled in the hadiths.
Lagos Island East Scout District of Lagos State Scout Council organised Her 1st Annual Ramadan lecture, tagged : Importance of Religion in Scouting. The lecture was held on Wednesday 14th June, 2017 at Dolphin Senior High school, 2 Saviour Street, Lagos Island.
It saw the gathering of both scouts and non-scouts, young and old, Muslims and Christians, who gathered to reflect on the essence of religion in scouting.
