# My Experience in ILT, Burundi 2024
It was both an honor and a privilege to connect with such a diverse and passionate group of future leaders from around Africa during the International Leadership Training in Burundi. We were not just participants in a workshop; we were members of a global community united by our commitment to the values of scouting—integrity, respect, responsibility, and service.
The workshop was designed to empower young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead effectively in our communities and beyond. In today’s rapidly changing world, the role of a leader is more critical than ever and as young scout leaders, we have the unique opportunity to inspire our peers, engage our communities, and make a meaningful impact. Throughout the Training, we explored essential leadership principles, shared best practices, and learnt from one another’s experiences. We engaged in interactive sessions, collaborative activities, and open discussions that challenged us to think critically and creatively about leadership in scouting.
Together, we delved into topics such as effective communication, team building, scout for sdgs, and different leadership styles.
My takeaways as we embark on this transformative experience post-training, is the importance of each one of us embracing the spirit of scouting—be curious, be open-minded, and be willing to step out of our comfort zone. Additionally, every great leader was once a learner, and this is our opportunity to grow and develop into the impactful leaders we aspire to be.
This workshop was a memorable and enriching experience for all!
