Before going into this training programme I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. South Africa is currently going through various levels of turmoil. From corruption to riots the country has been in a bit of a depressed state. But this training has given me hope. Hope that we can start making small changes in our Groups, small changes in our Region and hopefully these small changes will make big changes in our Country. Learning how to have constructive Dialogue has been an incredible experience. The group immediately broke down the walls and brought up taboo topics which our Movement has so desperately needed. With our Dialogue tools at the ready we have openly discussed the topics respectfully and willingly to find solutions to our Movements current scenarios. The set of online tools we have used to interact, collaborate and provide feedback are world class and inclusive. From using Mural to capture our opinions, Menti to vote and poll our thoughts and Moodlight to read the emotions in the room, the tools brought our fellow Dialoguers closer together. The training material has completely opened and broadened my mind. The tool kit has provided us with many skills to be able to conduct constructive Dialogue Circles with big or small groups and young or old participants. From this programme I believe Dialogue should be included in all levels of Scouting, from our Meerkats, to Cubs, to Scouts and Rovers. Then finally our Adult Leaders should part of Dialogue and hopefully trained in how to conduct constructive Dialogue Circles to move our Movement forward. Having speakers and guests from across the globe have broadened my perspective showing me that South Africa is not unique in the issues we face. We had fantastic mentors showing us the ropes on our to conduct fantastic and inclusive Dialogue Circles in our Dialogue Cafes. Walking away from this training I feel hopeful. Hopeful that the incredible participants will go away making small changes within their Groups and Regions. And hopefully these small changes will make a big impact a few years down the line.
