LAGOS STATE SCOUT COUNCIL HOLDS HER STATE SCOUT COUNCIL AGM, 2019

LAGOS STATE SCOUT COUNCIL SUCCESSFULLY HOLDS HER ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - THURSDAY 28TH FEBRUARY, 2019

Right inside the well lighted Conference Room of the Chief Judge of Lagos State; His Lordship Justice Opeyemi Oke, the Management and Leadership of the Lagos State Scout Council held her Annual General Meeting.

Annual General Meetings in the scouting fora afford us the opportunity to review, re-energize and push forward our past performance as a State Scout Council for improved performance.

The State AGM kick started with the Inspection of the Guard of Honour and the parade by the State Scout President, His Lordship Justice Opeyemi Oke. The President who defile the droppings of the rains which started as she was about to lead the inspection.

 

This was followed by the Introduction of Scout Leaders and members of the 1st Lagos State Judiciary Scout Group; the very first of it kind in the History of scouting in Africa and the world at large.

In her welcome address, the State Scout President; His Lordship Justice Opeyemi Oke reiterated that the Lagos State Scout Council is committed to making significant contributions to the development of young people for the purpose of achieving their potentials as responsible individuals and as members of their communities in the spirit of making the world a better place.

The State President was thereafter intimated and debriefed of Scouting events and performance of the State Scout Council within the scope of the year under review.

Reports of the financial position of the State Scout Council was presented by the State Treasurer.

In his remark, the Chief Commissioner of The Scout Association of Nigeria professionally represented by the Deputy Chief Commissioner; Prince James Adeolu Oyelami (LT, DCC) commended the LSSC for their leading role in terms of human and material resources over the years. 

He appreciated the support of the State Scout President for her support which went a long way in making the Council a force to reckon with in Nigeria and Beyond. 

Peak of the event was the ratification of the appointment of the newly elected State Scout Commissioner Scouter Olohuntoyin Adebesin.

A certificate of registration of the 1st Lagos Judiciary Scout Group was presented to the State Scout President  by the Deputy Chief Commissioner.

The State Scout Commissioner of The Lagos State Scout Council; Scouter Olohuntoyin O. Adebesin in his remark appreciated the unflinching support received by the State Scout Council from the Judiciary and our State President.

He seized the opportunity to remind the State President of the pressing needs of the council and previous pledges made by dignitaries in the State that are yet to be fully achieved.

The State President in her remark assured the State Scout Commissioner that the needs shall be provided within the next few months. 

The State Scout President was equally decorated with a neckerchief used in the commemoration of the 162nd Posthumous Birthday of our Founder by the National Training Commissioner of The Scout Association of Nigeria; Scouter Mrs Afusat Oyekunle (LT).

The Judges and Magistrates who were present in their complete scout uniforms expressed their continual interest and support towards the growth of Scouting in Lagos State. 

They renewed their promise to strengthen intergovernmental relations for the purpose of ensuring the sustainability of this noble association in and outside the state. 

Singsongs were offered to the delight of the President and Members of the State Judiciary Scout Group. 

Dignitaries present at the State AGM include but not limited to the Deputy Chief Commissioner, TSAN (Prince J.A Oyelami LT, DCC), Assistant Chief Commissioner Zone 1 TSAN (Chief J.O Tawose ALT), National Training Commissioner (Scouter Mrs Afusat Oyekunle LT), National Headquarter Commissioner Air Scout (Engineer B.O.A Oyetayo MNSE, MNAAPE, ALT), State Headquarter Commissioners, Divisional Commissioners, District Scout Commissioners and Scouts. 

The event was wrapped up with the second stanza of the National Anthem and the reaffirmation of the Scout promise. Followed by photograph session.
