Interamerican Leadership Training 2015

Dear Scouts all over the world, The third Interamerican Leadership Training (ILT) was held from December 28th till January 2nd at Campo Escuela San Jorge Muxbal in Guatemala. Always wanting to learn more and become better at what I love doing, I saw this Interamerican Leadership Training as a wonderful opportunity to do just that. We developed and improved our leadership skills to become better young leaders in each of our NSOs and also acquired team-building skills, learned how to manage conflicts, problem-solving, decision-making and project planning. During the course I’ve realized that besides this being a place where we can gain more knowledge, it’s also a place where we can build lasting friendships between NSOs in this region that will later serve as tool so that we can work together helping each other to reach the goals that we set for our NSOs and this way enlarge Scouting in the Interamerican Region. It’s about creating a network, a bond, in our region, which is really important. Creating a better world can never happen if you’re on your own. To do that, we should all unite like a family to create the positive change we want to see in our local communities. This course has also given me tons of inspiration on activities and projects I can do in my NSO. Being one of the Coordinators of Youth Network Scouting Antiano, I will be able to use the knowledge and skills I’ve learned at the Interamerican Leadership Training to share with my fellow Scouts so that they can also learn more and become better and more qualified leaders in Scouting Antiano here in Curaçao. The motto we had this ILT was, “Never give up… Never surrender!” And I hope that you guys never give up on our youths. That you guys believe in us, in the change, the impact that we can bring into this world as Messengers of Peace. And we will never surrender trying to create a better world, no matter how many obstacles we may face during our process to do so. Because we know, thanks to the Interamerican Leadership Training, that there’s a whole region ready to support each other whenever we need it. With that said, I would like to thank everyone so much for giving their support to this course. Especially the ILT Staff Team for giving up their time and energy to teach us while having fun at the same time. Without your help, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience this truly life-changing experience and get more motivated than ever to help in any way possible to create a positive impact. Showing the world that we as Scouts don’t only tie knots and camp, but that we also make a difference.
