Indonesia Scout Leader Conferred with the Asia-Pacific Award

A Scout leader of Indonesia, Berthold Sinaulan, conferred with the Asia-Pacific Scouting award. The award were handed over by the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional (APR) Scout Committee, Paul Parkinson from Australia, accompanied by JR Pangilinan, Regional Director World Scout Bureau/APR at the Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta on Monday, 11 April 2016. The award was given in the breaktime of the APR Scout Committee and the Subcommittee meeting in Jakarta from 9 to 12 April 2016, which was also attended by the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, Scott Teare originating from the United States. More than 100 representatives of national scouting organization in the Asia-Pacific region attended the meeting in Jakarta. The award is given to Berthold Sinaulan to his dedication service to Scouting as Honorary Correspondent of the Asia-Pacific Region of the Scout Movement for the past 20 years. The award was signed by Paul Parkinson and JR Pangilinan. Berthold Sinaulan first contribution of sending information about Scouting in Indonesia and in the Asia-Pacific region, following his the return from the APR Scout Conference in Singapore in 1995 as an observer in Gerakan Pramuka delegation. Since then, Berthold Sinaulan regularly would disseminate information through the scouting news, articles, and photos. Either printed, electronic, or online news, including through social media. Aside from being a honorary correspondent for the APR Scouting, Berthold Sinaulan also active in various capacities in the APR Scout since 1995. For example, Vice-Chairman of the APR Scout Management Subcommittee for the period 2012-2015, and a member of the APR Scout Specialist Panel since 2012. Berthold Sinaulan also a fourth person in Indonesia to obtain the APR Scout Chairman's Award in Indonesia. Also numerous awards scouting from home and abroad. Including twice winning the Trophy President of the Republic of Indonesia for Best Journalist in Scouting in 1990 and 1992. Currently, Berthold Sinaulan with some friends, Djoko Adi Waluyo, Harmidi, R Andi Widjanarko, and Taufik Umar Prayoga, established a citizen journalist community called as the Indonesia Scout communities Journalist (ISJ). This community consists of the Scouts who are want to develop themselves in the world of journalism, as well as journalists or reporters who likes to spread Scout news. Purpose of the establishment of the community is to disseminate information about Scouting in Indonesia and widely, so that people can have better understanding of the importance of Scouting as an education movement that helped form the character of young people, being useful, independent, and always make a positive contribution in the society.
