Increase Ocean & Sea Awareness
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality scout troop visited the Antalya aquarium with contribution of 71 scouts and 8 leader. It was not only a great adventure for us but also a great opportunity to give them a whole new perspective on the wonders of the ocean. Last week it was a winter break so, we decided to schedule a program that targets "Increase the Ocean & Sea Awareness" which teaches scouts about the threats that face underwater creatures and the actions they can take to protect them. World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) touches on what per cent of the world's water is freshwater, sustainable seafood choices, endangered species in Turkey and the world, plastic waste, coral reefs and more. This program aimed to encourage each scout to gather information about sea life, be aware of endangered sea animals, what can be done for protecting the life under the sea and more. It was an unforgettable experience for all of us. We talked about Mediterranean sea species, how important to protect the seas and oceans, what can we do to increase public awareness and more. It was the first step for all of us in being Messanger of Peace scouts. In the following weeks, we will keep sharing our actions with our scouts' friends all over the world. We are looking forward to your support. Keep in touch with us. Let's fight for the environment together.
