Hatchling release for nautical camp 2024

The 2024 Maritime Camp activity realized a different experience for its participants. On August 6, 2024, the second day of the Maritime Camp, the participants were given the Bugel Beach facility to visit the turtle conservation site for the release and preservation of hatchlings at Bugel Beach, Kulon Progo. The visit at Bugel Beach provided material to the participants about the types of sea turtles, how to breed, and material about the life of sea turtles and the importance of sea turtle conservation efforts in an effort to practice SDGS point-14, namely protecting marine and coastal ecosystems in a sustainable manner to avoid significant adverse impacts, including by strengthening their resilience, and carrying out restoration to realize healthy and productive oceans. The students from Brawijaya University as the activity guide provided material about sea turtle species and the importance of sea turtle conservation. The Yogyakarta Marine and Fisheries Agency, as the organizer of Kemah Bahari 2024, hoped that the participants would better understand why sea turtle conservation is important for us and the marine ecosystem.
