GSA CONDUCTS BASIC TRAINING FOR 43 LEADERS

GSA CONDUCTS BASIC TRAINING FOR 43 LEADERS The Ghana Scout Association organized a three-day Basic Training Course from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th of November, 2016 for its adult leaders at the Sam Wood Training Centre in Sakyikrom, Nsawam. The participants, who numbered up to forty-three (43), came from five regions – Ashanti, Greater Accra, Western, Brong-Ahafo and Volta Region. They attended the training course to learn new methods which they will impart to scouts. Prior to the training, an investiture ceremony was done for new adult leaders. The training which was jointly done by GSA trainers and their UK counterparts took turns to train participants on Mission of Scouting and Scouting strategy, Leadership Structure in GSA, Unit Management, Orienteering, Camp Craft, Volunteers in Scouting, Leadership among others. Miss Jemima Nartey, Vice Chair of the World Scout Committee joined the trainers. Certificates were presented to participants after the training and special prizes were also awarded to outstanding participants. Each participant was given a package including a compass, scout scarfs and badges to help them in their work as Adult leaders. During the evaluation, the participants indicated that the training course was interactive, fun and above all educative. In their closing remarks, Jemima Nartey implored participants work hard to take advantage of what they have learnt to help the Ghana Scout Association achieve its target within the framework on the WOSM’s triennium plan. The leader of the UK team, Jo Busby thanked participants for their discipline and cooperation during the training and urged them to create a positive impact in GSA. The Chief Commissioner, Gregory Manful on his part thanked the training team for a good work done and urged the participants to share the knowledge they have acquired with their fellow leaders in their regions and to become agents of peace before, during and after the elections 2016.
