Good Turns: The Last Dance

From the 29th of September to the 5th of October, 96 Jasiri Scouts from the Kenya Scouts Association were offering service at the Nairobi International Trade Fair, organized by the Agricultural Society of Kenya, under the theme "Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture".

This is an annual event where we get to interact with farmers and learn from each other some of the best farming practices, creating food security, and green jobs. Our team was stationed at the Farm and Dairy stand, where some of our roles were: data entry, manning stations, and feeding the rabbits. This is a duty we carried out wholeheartedly with vigour.

For this, we were one of the stations that received commendations for work well done. This year's event being the last time I was eligible to volunteer, I took a keen interest in observing the number of young people in the Agricultural space. I'm here to gladly report that our future in food security is not so bleak as I previously thought. There were a good number of young farmers who were knowledgeable about their respective fields.

I bow out with a heart full of joy, a mind full of memories, with singing and chanting over a 4km stretch under the cover of darkness, and gaining more lifetime friends. Until next time. Kwaheri!
