Global Forum on Ending Violence Against Children
Between the 5th and 8th November 2024, World Scouting joined the first ever Global Ministerial Forum on Ending Violence Against Children in Bogota Colombia. This event was an opportunity to meet with governments and international organisation to tackle how to better prevent violence and support children in a changing world.
During the 4 days, we spent two days joining side events and talking in depth about children in war situations, corporal punishment but also about how to better support children and make sure their voices are heard. The last two days, the formal conference show cased the pledges of over 100 countries to take actions to end violence against children.
In collaboration with Youth Mobilisers, World Scouting Youth Representatives have carried a session for young people to share together their reflections about their needs and actions we can take to support young people through education, youth leadership and regarding the question of accountability. The campfire style conversation triggered interesting reflections around the need for young people to be given the space to share initiatives that are already taken at the local level and in their communities.
