A Day of Service and Reflection at Bukey Dam My fellow scouts and I set out on a significant journey to Bukey Dam on March 30, fusing spiritual contemplation with environmental stewardship. This trip was more than just a typical excursion; it was a chance for us to deeply engage with our surroundings and give back to the community. We started the day by picking up trash near Bukey Dam. Equipped with gloves and trash bags, we dispersed to gather any leftover litter and debris that had gathered in the vicinity. Not only did this exercise benefit the environment, but it also opened our eyes as a group. We became aware of how human activity affects natural areas and how crucial it is to keep our surroundings clean and respectful. The sense of teamwork and unity among us was palpable as we worked together towards a common goal. Following our waste-picking assignment, we took part in the yearly rites at Bukey Dam. It was humble to be a part of these rituals, which are significant spiritual and cultural events for the neighborhood. For many of us, it was a time of reflection and spiritual development as we learned about the customs and principles that the rituals stood for. The solemnity of the ceremonies and the calm ambiance of the dam made for the ideal setting for introspection and self-connection. We had a delicious lunch at Bukey Primary School to cap off our day. It was immensely satisfying to sit down to a meal together following a demanding morning of spiritual engagement and hard work. We could unwind and enjoy each other's company in a warm and inviting space provided by the school. It was a time for us to bond and celebrate the things we had accomplished that day. This excursion to Bukey Dam was a day of education, development, and service rather than merely a usual scouting outing. We departed with a richer understanding of our surroundings, the value of community, and the role that spirituality plays in our lives. We took our newfound resolve to keep adding good things to our community home with us as we made our way back home.
