Community help from Australia
From the International Commissioner for Scouts Australia – Neville Tomkins
Scouts Australia has decided to donate all of their World Scout Jamboree Contingent Tents to Nepal Scouts
There will be up to 130 tents total which are being sent, as a combo of two or six person tents to assist Nepal with its recovery from the earth quake.
Scouts Australia is also planning to send a team of volunteers to Nepal in early 2016 to assist with rebuilding of one of their training centres which was destroyed in the earth quake.
The handover of the tents took place in a ceremony at Scouts Australia Headquarters at WSJ2015 at 6:30pm, on the 4th of August 2015.
Youth members of Australia handed over a symbolic tent to the youth members of Nepal in the presence of the WSJ2015 Contingent Leader of Australia and the Chief Commissioner of Nepal.
The Ceremony reinforced the strong bong between Scouts Australia and other scout associations in the Asia pacific region.
It further demonstrated the strong willingness of Scouts Australia to support other associations following a disaster.
Handover of the tents was facilitated through the Asia Pacific Region office of world scouting.
